Personal Work

A photograph of my mother, Myra Jeansonne Santos, and her grandmother, Emily Goux Jeansonne.

Here are two photographs from a new project I’m working on. A kind of time capsule. A family album. A portrait of New Orleans. I’ve never really photographed my family before. It’s strange to tilt the camera more inward, to see more reflections of myself than ever before.

I’ll have more to show and write about the work soon, but for now I just wanted to share these two images. First drafts. Very much a work in progress.

Emily passed away two years before I was born. Everyone says my mother looks like her.
